our Milestones

After meeting, we try to know each other better and as careful as possible we set several milestones of kowing each other better and make the final decision of "to stay together or to part from each other.

Maybe not a "milestone", but the starting point of this relation. It is like in real life, after a good plan, there is an important change and finaly the target is moved to a complete other direction. Reaching the target seems impossible in the beginning ...

Sundari´s 1st German visit, winter 2006

To check about the differences in culture, temperature, habits and people, Sundari travelled from her working place in Teunum/Aceh to Frankfurt and was picked up, by me. The time was full with a lot of sightseeing in the surroundings of Duesseldorf, celebrate Christmas and checking the snow, during New Year in the middle mountains of the "Harz" area. Sundari made decision "for" Germany. Our project started smoothly.

Since end of 2006, until spring 2007 we try to manage the paper-work for Sundari´s second visa. She returned to Teunom, while I was working for my ship-project. With only small chances for communication between Teunom and the German ambassy at Jakarta, the co-ordination for the papers were done from Germany & Manukan. In April 2007, we reached our 3rd milestone.

After our common return, to Toenisvorst, we have to legalize our wedding from Indonesia. Helpful was the Standesamt at Toenisvorst, Mr. Kuesters & his team. They are specialised in "mixed" couples and had a huge pole of helpful advices. With the "Ehefähigkeitszeugnis" from OLG Duesseldorf, we got an important apointment: our wedding in Germany. The 4th milestone was reached by us.

One year later, back to our family in Manukan, we start with the preparations of a "real" Javanese Wedding ceremony. For Mike, as a western guy, this was a very special and very exciting point of his life. Nevertheless, there was oportunity to have family gathering with all the uncles, aunts, nice and nephews from the big family, all around Java & Sumatra. Our 5th milestone:
